Amy Van Leuven is certified through The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (or PATH Intl.) as a therapeutic riding instructor. Amy, originally from California, has been on the back of a horse since she could walk and as she recalls was “half raised by horses”. Her foundation is built upon the principles of Natural Horsemanship focusing mainly on Western riding. She has experience in Western Pleasure Showmanship, Trail Competition, Gymkhana, and Show Jumping. She has worked as a Wrangler and the Herd Manager for Gunstock Ranch. Amy graduated from Brigham Young University-Hawaii with a BS in Psychology and strongly believes that understanding horse psychology is just as important as learning proper riding technique and both are reflected in her lessons. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with those who are eager to learn as she has witnessed first hand the incredible impact that a horse can have on an individual.
